2010 Worcester African Festival
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Rationale:Fairbridge Project International Inc., also known as African Immigrant and Refugee Services, a 501 (c) 3 organization has been in the fore front of bridging the gap between the African immigrants/refugee community and the mainstream services since 2004. Our services include community organizing, cultural competency trainings and cultural brokerage that improve the participation of Africans in health, education and socio-economic development in Worcester, Massachusetts.The Worcester African Festival offers an opportunity to rally the community together to celebrate our unique cultural heritage. While doing so we hope to focus attentions on issues that directly affect our community particularly the issue of access to health care and to be specific, breaking down the myth and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS in African community. By doing so, we hope to increase the number of men, women and youth getting screened for preventable diseases, accessing care services when needed and avoiding at risk behaviors. We hope to do this through cultural display, fun activities and a showcase of health/job fair and community resources.
Sponsorship Opportunity Fairbridge Project is seeking sponsorship and inviting your agency to become a vendor at the 2009 Worcester African festival. By enrolling your agency to participate, the festival will showcase all the services your agency provides and give you a direct link to the African community. Fairbridge Project will be ready to answer your questions on how you may increase participation of immigrants in your services. In addition, with your permission we would include your organization in the brochure/magazine created for the event. We hope to circulate 1000 copies of the magazine throughout the Central Massachusetts.
